Hello Old Friend! (September 1, 2025)

Running is a blessing.

Now… I must admit sometimes that blessing is a little greater at certain times than others. After being forced to the non-running sidelines following my Achilles Tendon rupture for some 5+ months, I find myself having the ability to lace up my Brooks running shoes and venture out for a run no longer taken for granted.

Yes indeed… running most certainly is a blessing.

It’s been a while since I’ve written my last BLOG post… in fact it’s been about 90 days.

The reason: I really didn’t have much to write about. I was in the middle of my training… getting up early to avoid this area’s summer heat & humidity… working on building up my stamina and distance… and between the tempo runs, and distance runs, and assorted pool runs, I kinda thought I didn’t have that much to write about.

Or so I thought.

This morning, while returning from my now completed 5-mile tempo run before sunrise, I looked up toward the eastern sky… and for the first time since March, I saw it.

The constellation Orion- the Hunter.

This constellation is sometimes referred as a ‘winter constellation’… as the combination of the earth’s northern hemisphere tilt and orbit around the sun make it clearly visible in the late summer to early spring night skies.

Upon seeing it, I did something I don’t normally do while on a run… I stopped.

Seeing Orion tells me that this hot and humid Texas summer running weather will soon be over… or least mitigated to some extent. WINNING!

Then I realized… it’s September 1st… that means my ‘come-back’ half marathon is next month!

My ‘come-back’ race has always been a ‘sometime later this year’ event. Well, ‘later this year’ just became NEXT MONTH.

Are there readers out there running the Walt Disney World’s Wine & Dine Half Marathon on October 26th? If so… the Ruptured Runner will be there!

Being there and running… I like the sound of that!

Let’s talk! Email me at: RupturedRunner@gmail.com.
