Time passes.
Holidays come and go.
Doctor appointments.
Physical Therapy appointments.
Milestones anticipated and achieved.
What’s next?
I’ve had a date circled on my calendar for 5 long weeks… January 7th’s follow-up with my Orthopedic Surgeon. I was told this appointment normally happens at 9 weeks post… however due to the New Year’s Holiday, it had to be pushed back to 10 weeks post.
And this 10-week post appointment is this coming Tuesday, January 7th.
I’ve been told this is the appointment where I will ‘lose the boot’… to be replaced by a wedged shoe.
More normal… and the expected medical clearance to DRIVE should be on the table as well. Even more normal!
My desire to dump my boot is very real.
Reason: My boot is starting to break down… with a hole forming in the heal… inside lining breaking down… etc. It appears these boots aren’t made to ‘walk’ 4-5 miles a day.
Based upon my progress, my Physical Therapist does not see a reason why my Ortho-surgeon shouldn’t release me to the wedged shoe. So… yes… I am very excited about what this January 7th appointment should bring.
